A First-Timer’s Guide to Vizag Local Sightseeing

Visakhapatnam packs an unusual mix of beaches, hills and naval history into a single city, and a well-planned local sightseeing day can cover most of it comfortably.

Start at RK Beach

Begin early at RK Beach (Ramakrishna Beach) while the promenade is still cool and uncrowded. The INS Kurusura Submarine Museum sits right along this stretch — a decommissioned Indian Navy submarine you can walk through, a highlight for first-time visitors.

Head up to Kailasagiri

From the beach road, it is a short drive up to Kailasagiri hill park, known for its giant Shiva-Parvati statue and a wide view over the city and coastline. The ropeway up is optional but worth it if you have the time.

Round it off with the port and beach road

End the day driving along the scenic beach road toward the port area, with stops for local seafood and sunset views. A private cab for the day makes this loop far easier than trying to coordinate autos between each stop.
